Help Is On The Way

Feel like your coming in last in the race of life? Feel like you wish you could step into a time machine and change a few choices you made? Ever feel like everyone has it "right" in life and everything you are trying is wrong? I feel like this all too often. Help is on the way!

There is a dangerous little hole we can slip into when we start DWELLING on things in our past that we THINK have caused our CURRENT unhappiness.

Are you stuck in that hole right now? If you are, I have a big stick to help you get out and hopefully avoid falling back in! It’s miserable hole, I KNOW—I’ve been in there all to often!

So how does this happen? I think it starts with the devil, who can really get us when we are unhappy, overwhelmed or just generally frustrated with life. He uses our little unhappiness to bring on a full blown “I hate my life” episode. The he brings to our mind that one or many, pivotal decisions we made in life and we become obsessed with the “if only” I had done this or that type of thinking. It’s a weird circular thinking when we try to reason with our past decisions—and it NEVER helps.

Everyone has things they wished they could DO OVER. I know people who wished they could have a DO OVER for not going to college, for dropping out of college, for marrying this guy or that girl, for not marrying this guy or that girl, for maxing out their credit card, burning bridges that they would later need, the list is endless.

So what can we do? Build a time machine? Nope, in this life the only time travel we get is FORWARD. So allow this rule to help guide your own thoughts….if you can only move forward, why not focus your mind and thoughts on that which is AHEAD!

Even if you think, “well, you have no idea how badly I’ve blown it. There is no hope for me, my past is too messed up.” I’ve got WONDERFUL news for you! God is bigger than any “missed opportunity or mess up” we can EVER do.

No matter what has taken place in your life, God can cause GOOD to come out of it. I say that’s a pretty great deal, we love Him and He does miracles with our messes!

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

So take heart, be encouraged, no matter what you THINK you have done that has messed up your current circumstances—God can cause blessing and benefit to come out of it. We only need to be seeking Him first, obeying His commandments NOW and then watching to see God’s hand intervening, protecting and bringing about good.

We need to be careful with what we allow our minds to dwell on, and it’s too easy to look around and start comparing our very unique life experiences with others who might LOOK like they have it BETTER but they don’t. It’s just that you don’t know what they are dealing with inside, so it APPEARS like they have the perfect life. No body gets a “perfect life” because we haven’t arrived in heaven yet! So hold this little fact in your heart, your life WILL get better because each of us who love the Lord will have a palace in His Kingdom. This life we experience is NOT as good as it gets! It’s going to be AMAZING!

We all have tremendous hope, because God can cause good to come out of ANY circumstances or choices we’ve made. And we have added hope and can be excited for our future because Jesus has gone to prepare a place in His Father’s Kingdom for us. Your palace awaits! I love THINKING about that! And He’s coming back to get us! Yayness =)

John 14:2 "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you."I pray that God would heal any lingering pain from past decisions, and that His love, peace and joy would fill your heart right now!

I pray that God would heal any lingering pain from past decisions, and that His love, peace and joy would fill our hearts right now!

The Jolt In Life

JOLT-[johlt]
1. to jar, shake, or cause to move by or as if by a sudden rough thrust; shake up roughly:
2. to knock sharply so as to dislodge:

Maybe life has given you an unexpected jolt. Maybe a relationship suddenly ended, or you were told you weren't needed at your job anymore. Or, maybe you have lost a loved one unexpectedly. These "jolts" of life are defining moments that can either hold us back or launch us forward into the divine destiny God has prepared. That's why James 1 tells us to "count it all joy" when we face trials because in those moments when we are jolted out of our comfort zones, we are really getting a supernatural head start down the road of greatness. With God on your side, what looks like a setback is really a set up for a comeback!

Just when you start to think that your dreams are slipping away from you even more. All the steps that you think are taking you backwards, God is actually pulling you back, just like a "catapult" or slingshot, to launch you so far ahead of anything else! To put you in a place that even you didn't know you could dream of reaching. He see's the big picture. He knows our future. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

here's to the Lords plans for our life, a bright future, and happiness

Praying for Favor

I read a friends blog today that really spoke to me. Im sure at some point in life everyone can relate to this. I hope it helps you as well.

I really struggled with loneliness as I transitioned out of college and into the “real world.” All of my friends were moving away to new jobs, even moving back home or getting married. It seemed like I was the ONLY one who was staying in the same city.

It was also the first time I lived alone. Which was really strange as I felt a little afraid that NO ONE was coming home. It was just me. I was also worried about myself being alone because I fell back into my eating disorder easily when I was alone. Something that was still a snare for me. The anxiety I had about those evenings of being all alone and then the weekend which seemed to never end as I had fewer and fewer friends left in town.

And I wasn’t dating anyone. I felt like a big turd that no one wanted. Who wants a turd anyway? Ha ha! So that little aspect was especially depressing as I watched friends getting engaged and married…aahhh! I often thought, “why not just start collecting my 1,000 cats now?” Ha ha ha!

But here are a few things that helped me, and I hope you try these before you start your cat collection.

What to do?
Pray for fired up Christian friends. I’ve done this many times and God will bring one…then a few months later it dawns on me “oh- I prayed for her, didn’t I? Thank you Lord!”

Get busy. Volunteer at your church for the nursery, join a small group study, join the worship team, or start your own Bible study. Maybe they have other out-reach groups that you would like to join—find out and get involved.
Take some classes, for example, I took a few jewelry making classes that I really enjoyed!

And I think this is important for anyone who is breathing. Ha ha ha! I think we should pray for favor with people. Sometimes when we haven’t had to make a new friend in a long time, we begin to think “why would anyone want to be friends with me? I’m not funny, skinny, rich, pretty, smart or cool” that’s what I would think anyway! But don’t believe those lies from satan. Instead PRAY FOR FAVOR!

Proverbs 3:3-4
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

LOVE and FAITHFULNESS are the keys to FAVOR! Try it!

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

See? God has ALREADY determined the good works for you to do! He has the PLANS for your life. I truly believe that God plants our dreams in our hearts! And dreams grow best in a heart to serve!

And remember that seasons always change, so if you are struggling in winter right now…hang on…spring is coming!

This too shall soon pass

I think it’s important to know that seasons WILL change, and not to be blindsided by the times that are filled with heartache and difficulty. God tells us ahead of time that we WILL have these times, so we don’t have to think that we've failed somehow when life takes on a new season. This is just as natural as the seasons we experience in nature. We don’t have to be afraid of it, God will see us through and a comforting side note is that NO season remains forever! And also know that God never gives us more than we can handle—He knows our limits even better than we do!

And there are also seasons in our walk with the Lord. There is winter time, which is a time of preparation, revelation and direction. God is preparing you for the coming season ahead!

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

I'm praying Father for restoration Lord. Prepare me for the seasons to come. This too shall soon pass. I take comfort in the fact that you are close to the broken hearted. Father I am all over the place. I'm broken and alone, crushed and confused, I feel attacked and vulnerable. Lord lead me on the path that you would have me. Show me the ways of your will and teach and guide me Father. I am long past tired and wanting to quit. Lord I seek your answers because I want you first. I seek your ways and ask for guidance in my choice of a career and about my purpose in life. Lord place me where you would have me. I pray that the hurt eyes I see people through will fade Lord, give me new eyes to see people through Lord and a heart of forgiveness. Protect my heart Lord and guard it. I seek to know more of the love you have for me so that I can pour out your love for others. I pray for my job and my schooling Lord and that you will guide me to where you want me. I will go Father. Thank You for loving a sinner like me.
